Two day training programme on “Best Practices in Public Procurement and Integrity Pact” was conducted for the NLC employees by Transparency International India (TII), New Delhi and at the Yegneswaran Auditorium, at Learning & Development Centre, Neyveli. Transparency International India (TII) is a non-government, non-party and not-for- profit civil society organization of Indian citizens with professional, social, industrial or academic experience seeking to promote transparent and ethical governance and to eradicate corruption. Transparency International India is the Indian chapter of Transparency International, an international based at Berlin that has turned the fight against corruption into a worldwide movement. The two day training programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Shri Sarat Kumar Acharya, CMD, NLC . Shri P.S Bawa, Chairman,TII was the Guest of Honour. During the two day programme topics on Irregularities in Public Procurement – Vigilance Perspective , Anti Corruption Laws in India, Integrity Pact Challenges and Opportunities, Probity in Public Procurement, Public Procurements- Maintaining Transparency and Integrity were dealt by Shri Vinod Kumar Gupta, Chief Technical Examiner, Chief Vigilance Commission,

Shri P.S. Bawa, Chairman (TII), Shri A.K. Mehra, Former Director (Commercials), MOIL Ltd. & Member TII and Ms.Jot Prakash Kaur. The valedictory function of the above training programme was conducted on 03-02-2016. Shri Sarat Kumar Acharya in his valedictory address wanted the participants to act fast in dealing with the finalization of the tenders and to be transparent at the same time.

The decision making process would help in speedy processing of tenders thereby enabling the commissioning of the projects within the stipulated time. The decisions made should be timely and should be with cost consciousness keeping in mind the vision of the organization. The system followed should have good process and good procedures and should ensure delivery within the time limit.

Shri Shivraj Singh, Chief Vigilance Officer, NLC in his felicitation address was happy to note the initiatives taken by the participants in getting their doubts with regard to the processing of tenders CLEARED from the Transparency International team. Shri P.S. Bawa, Chairman, TII thanked CMD NLC and CVO NLC for providing the opportunity to impart training to the executives in Integrity Pact and other related topics. Shri V. Thangapandian, Director/Power, NLC and A.K. Mehra, Former Director (Commercials), MOIL Ltd. & Member TII participated in the function. Shri S. Ravisankar, CGM/Contracts proposed vote of thanks. Certificates were issued to the participants on behalf of TII.
