Sorabh Babu IAS given additional charge of DG – DDU-SIRD, Uttar Pradesh
Shri Sorabh Babu IAS (Uttar Pradesh 2000), presently Principal Secretary- Rural Development and Rural Engineering Service (RES), Uttar Pradesh, is given additional charge of Director General – Deen Dayal Upadhyaya State Institute of Rural Development (DDU-SIRD), Uttar Pradesh.
Shri Sorabh Babu, a seasoned officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), brings with him a strong academic and administrative foundation, underpinned by a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering with First-class distinction. His technical background has complemented his administrative acumen, enabling him to approach governance with analytical clarity and structured decision-making.
With over two decades of experience, Shri Sorabh Babu has served across a wide spectrum of roles at both the state and central levels. Currently holding the rank of Additional Secretary and serving as Commissioner in the Food & Civil Supplies Department, Uttar Pradesh, he is associated with overseeing crucial aspects of public distribution and ensuring the efficient functioning of supply systems. His work in this domain reflects a balanced approach towards operational efficiency and public welfare.
A significant phase of his career includes his tenure as Director in the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, where he gained exposure to highly specialized and strategic areas of administration. This assignment added a distinct dimension to his professional profile, combining technical governance with national-level responsibilities.
At the grassroots level, Shri Sorabh Babu has an extensive record of district administration, having served as District Magistrate in districts such as Jalaun, Fatehpur, Basti, and Banda. These assignments provided him with firsthand experience in handling law and order, development programmes, and citizen-centric governance. His early roles as Chief Development Officer, CEO, and Joint Magistrate further strengthened his understanding of rural and urban administration.
Throughout his career, he has maintained a steady trajectory marked by diverse responsibilities and consistent performance. His ability to navigate both field-level challenges and policy-oriented roles reflects adaptability and a deep understanding of governance systems.
