Ms. Simmi Chaudhary IES (1996) presently Economic Adviser- Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises has been given the additional charge of the post of Financial Adviser (FA) (JS Level), Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Mumbai for a period of six months w.e.f, 12.07.2025 by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet .
Ms. Simmi Chaudhary, IES (1996), is an accomplished officer of the Indian Economic Service, presently serving as Economic Adviser in the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India. She has recently been entrusted with the additional charge of Financial Adviser (FA) at the Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Mumbai, a statutory body dedicated to promoting rural entrepreneurship and self-reliance.
A distinguished academic and policy professional, Ms. Chaudhary completed her B.A. (Honours) in Economics from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi in 1993, earning the All India Entrance Scholarship for her academic excellence. She pursued her M.A. in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics (1995) and later obtained a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from the Central Institute of Education, University of Delhi (1996). Her commitment to lifelong learning is evident from her MBA in Human Resource Management from IGNOU (2004) and her Ph.D. in Education and Management from the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) in 2024.
Over nearly three decades of service, Ms. Chaudhary has contributed significantly to economic policy formulation, program evaluation, and institutional strengthening in various capacities across the Government of India. Her analytical acumen and forward-looking approach have been instrumental in designing policies that foster inclusive growth, rural entrepreneurship, and MSME development.
In her current role, she plays a pivotal part in integrating economic analysis with policy execution to enhance the effectiveness of MSME schemes. As Financial Adviser (additional charge) at KVIC, she brings a unique blend of economic insight and administrative expertise to strengthen fiscal prudence, promote sustainable rural industries, and support India’s vision of “Atmanirbhar Bharat” and “Vocal for Local.”

The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), headquartered in Mumbai, is a statutory body established under the Khadi and Village Industries Commission Act, 1956.
