Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Shri Bimal Julka met the delegation of US-India Business Council led by Mr Joe Welch, Senior Vice President, 21st Century Fox. The discussions focussed on Media & Entertainment sector in India and the steps being taken by the government to promote “Make-in-India” across the different platforms in different sectors.
Shri Julka, gave an overview of the growth of the industry in critical areas of the Media & Entertainment sector. He emphasized on the government’s efforts to make India a “Film shooting Destination” and efforts to setup a Film Facilitation Unit was under consideration to promote the concept of Single Window Clearance. He also apprised the delegation about the government’s commitment to facilitate the Digitization process Phase III & Phase IV as per the given timelines. The discussions also focussed on the possible collaborative avenues related to anti piracy.
During the discussions the delegation was also apprised regarding the new policy initiatives of the Ministry in the Broadcasting & Film Sector. Shri Julka emphasized on the role of the I&B ministry in disseminating the schemes of Government across media platforms in an effort to sensitise the masses. The meeting was attended by senior officers of the I&B ministry and members of the council representing different segments of the Media & Entertainment industry in USA.
