IAS Officer Guruprasad Mohapatra passed away while undergoing treatment at AIIMS New Delhi, this morning after testing positive for COVID-19.
Guruprasad Mohapatra was 1986 Batch, Gujarat cadre officer serving as Secretary – DPIIT (Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade) and was empanelled as Secretary in July 2018 and had taken charge as Chairman – Airport Authority of India in July 2016.
In the state cadre, he joined as Sub Divisional Admn / Land Revenue Mgmt & District Admn in 13/09/1988 , Collector – Junagadh in 31/05/1993, Collector- Surat in 18/04/1995 , Additional Commissioner- Ahmedabad in 01/10/1997, Municipal Commissioner- Surat in 22/06/1999, Member (Administration)- Gujarat Electricity Board , Commissioner (Jt Secy)- Transport , Gujarat , MD- Gujarat Alkalies & Chemicals Ltd and
Municipal Commissioner- Ahmedabad (Addl Secy Level) to just names a few and then he moved to the centre.
His 1st posting in the centre was as Joint Secretary- Commerce and was then made Chairman – AAI (Airport Authority of India) and then joined as Secretary- DPIIT and inbetween he was given the additional charge as Secretary MSME.
