SCOPE reaffirms its Green Pledge | Hosts Climate Action Initiatives by PSE in India

In an effort to address the Climate Crisis, the Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), in collaboration with GIZ, Germany, organized a program titled ‘Climate Action initiatives by Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs) in India’. The program highlighted the role of PSEs in reducing carbon footprint, even in challenging sectors. The event was graced by esteemed individuals including Dr. Philipp Ackermann, German Ambassador to India; Mr. Gurdeep Singh, CMD of NTPC; Mr. Sandeep Kumar Gupta, Chairman of SCOPE and CMD of GAIL; Mr. Pawan Kumar, Principal Adviser of DPE; Dr. Julie Reviere, Country Director of GIZ India; and Mr. Atul Sobti, DG of SCOPE. Senior officials from DPE, GIZ, and various PSEs were also present.

During the program, a first-of-its-kind Compendium on ‘Initiatives towards Building a Low-Carbon Economy’ was launched, showcasing the efforts of PSEs in hard-to-abate sectors. Additionally, a short film highlighting the Climate Action and Green Initiatives undertaken by PSEs was screened. Furthermore, a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between SCOPE and GIZ-Germany, aiming to develop sustainable and economically viable solutions for urban and industrial development.

This collaborative program and the initiatives undertaken demonstrate the commitment of PSEs in India to tackle climate change and work towards a low-carbon economy.
