Shri Saurabh Gupta IPS (Assam Meghalaya 2018) has been appointed as Superintendent of Police (SP) in Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a period of five years.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is India’s principal investigative agency, renowned for handling cases of national significance. Formed in 1963, it traces its roots to the Special Police Establishment of 1941, originally created to tackle corruption during World War II. Operating under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, the CBI investigates crimes related to corruption, financial fraud, serious offences, and inter-state or international matters. Guided by the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act, 1946, the agency upholds integrity and justice while collaborating with Interpol and other global law enforcement bodies in pursuit of fair governance.
