Shri Sandeep Kumar Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director, GAIL conferred with the CEO with HR Orientation’ Award at the 32nd World HRD Congress & Awards in Mumbai.
Shri Sandeep Kumar Gupta is a graduate in Commerce and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and joined GAIL in October 2022. Prior to his role at GAIL, he served as the Director (Finance) on the Board of IOCL from August 2019. Indian Oil Corporation Limited is a leading PSU integrated Energy Company listed in Fortune’s “Global 500,” along with several group companies.
During his tenure as Director (Finance), Shri Gupta oversaw various responsibilities, including F&A, Treasury, Pricing, International Trade, Optimization, Information Systems, Corporate Affairs, Legal, Risk Management, and more. With over 34 years of experience in the Oil & Gas Industry, he held diverse positions in Indian Oil Corporate Office, Refineries Head Office, and Refineries in Guwahati, Baroda, and Mathura.
Shri Gupta received training from prestigious institutions such as IIM Calcutta, University of Maryland, Washington, Harvard Business School, XLRI Jamshedpur, and IIM Ahmedabad. He has been individually recognized for his contributions, receiving the “CA CFO – Large Corporate – Manufacturing and Infrastructure Category” award in January 2021 from ICAI for Financial & Risk Management during the pandemic. Additionally, he was recognized among the Top 30 CFOs in India by StartupLanes.com in May 2022.
Shri Sandeep Kumar Gupta currently serves as the Chairman of the Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) for the years 2023-25, representing an apex professional organization for Central Government Public Enterprises. Recently, he was honored with the ‘India’s Best CEO’ award for the Oil and Gas Sector by the India Today Group.
He received this award for his business-related HR sensitivity, communication effectiveness with & towards employees, innovations within HR disciplines and change management.
