Saket Kumar Singh IPS extension as IG – Central Reserve Police Force
Shri Saket Kumar Singh IPS (Jharkhand 2002) presently Inspector General- Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has been given extension of deputation tenure for a period of two years beyond 11.03.2026 (total 7 years) by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet .
The position of Inspector General (IG) in the Central Reserve Police Force is a senior leadership role entrusted with overseeing large operational sectors, ranges, or specialized units within India’s premier internal security force. An IG in CRPF is responsible for planning, directing, and supervising operations related to law and order, counter-insurgency, anti-Naxal activities, and election security across assigned jurisdictions.
The role requires close coordination with state police, intelligence agencies, and other central armed police forces to ensure effective deployment and response in sensitive areas. IGs also play a crucial role in operational strategy, resource allocation, and crisis management in challenging environments.
Beyond operations, the IG is responsible for administration, training, logistics, and personnel welfare, ensuring that the force remains prepared and motivated. The position demands strong leadership, situational awareness, and decision-making under pressure.
