Sahitya Akademi Award 2025
The Sahitya Akademi has announced its annual Sahitya Akademi Awards 2025 for outstanding literary works in the 24 Indian languages recognized by the institution. This year’s awards honour a diverse range of literary contributions, reflecting the richness and variety of Indian literature. Among the winning works are eight books of poetry, four novels, six collections of short stories, two essay collections, one work of literary criticism, one autobiography, and two memoirs, representing different genres and literary traditions across the country.
The Sahitya Akademi confers these prestigious awards every year through a well-established and transparent selection process in each of the 24 recognized languages. The process for the Sahitya Akademi Award 2025 commenced in January 2025, following the release of an open advertisement issued on 30 January 2025, inviting eligible entries for consideration.

After careful evaluation and deliberation, the jury’s recommendations were submitted for approval.
