Dr Renuka Mishra IES (2003), presently Economic Adviser, Ministry of Heavy
Industries, GoI, to continue with her present posting. She is in charge of Economic Wing, Media, O&M, GST Facilitation cell, GLIS, OOMF, DGQI, RTI, SC/ST Cell and Hindustan Salts Limited.
Dr Renuka Mishra holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Economics from the University of Allahabad, with research focused on sustainable development strategies for Assam’s forestry resources. She also holds an M.Phil. in Social Sciences from Punjab University, exploring fiscal deficit and public debt in India, and a Master Diploma in Public Administration from IIPA, New Delhi. Her academic journey includes an M.A. in Economics (2nd position) and a B.Ed. (5th position) from Guwahati University.
Her contributions to academia and research have been recognised through several accolades, including the Smt Kusumati S.B. Chavan Gold Medal at IIPA, the Chancellor Medal of Commerce Faculty at Allahabad University, and selection for the prestigious Lindau Conference of Nobel Laureates in Economic Sciences. She has also qualified the UGC-NET and received the President’s National Scholarship during her undergraduate studies.
An active researcher, she has presented and published extensively on themes including climate finance, VAT harmonisation, migration economics, and renewable energy. Her work has appeared in peer-reviewed journals, international conferences, and books, notably in India Migration Report 2015 (Routledge) and Atmanirbhar Bharat: Series of Memorial Lectures (IIPA, 2022).
