REC Limited, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under the Ministry of Power and one of India’s leading Non-Banking Financial Companies, has reaffirmed its commitment to national service through a significant Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. Through its CSR arm, REC Foundation, the company has contributed ₹20 crore to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund (AFFDF), a dedicated fund for the welfare of ex-servicemen, martyrs’ families, and war widows.

The financial support will be directed towards the education of 16,667 children of ex-servicemen, martyrs, and war widows from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. This initiative underscores REC’s focus on empowering the families of India’s brave soldiers by helping secure their children’s educational future.
The contribution was formalised through a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed in New Delhi between Shri Pradeep Fellows, Executive Director (CSR), REC Limited, and Brigadier D.S. Basera, Secretary, Kendriya Sainik Board, which manages the AFFDF. The agreement marks a continuation of REC’s collaboration with the Kendriya Sainik Board and reflects a shared vision of honoring the sacrifices of India’s armed forces.
Notably, REC Foundation has already extended ₹30 crore in support to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund over the past two financial years, bringing its total contribution to ₹50 crore. This sustained engagement reflects REC’s holistic approach to CSR, which integrates national service, social equity, and inclusive development.
Beyond financial aid, this initiative stands as a tribute to the indomitable spirit of India’s soldiers and their families. By investing in the education of their children, REC aims to foster opportunity, dignity, and resilience among those who have borne the brunt of national defense.
Through such initiatives, REC continues to demonstrate that corporate responsibility is not just about business contributions but also about honoring the spirit of sacrifice and standing firmly with the defenders of the nation.rural electri
