REC Ltd Launches ₹1.40 Cr CSR Initiative for Green Innovator Labs in Haryana Schools

REC Limited has committed financial assistance of ₹1.40 Crore under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative for implementation of the ‘Green Innovator Immersive Learning Lab’ project in 10 Government Schools of Karnal district in Haryana. The project will be executed by I-Hub Foundation for Cobotics (IHFC), the Technology Innovation Hub of Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.

A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) in this regard was signed on 14 May 2026 at the REC Corporate Office in Gurugram between Arun Kumar Tyagi and Ashutosh Dutt Sharma. The agreement marks another significant step towards promoting technology-enabled education and strengthening digital learning infrastructure in Government schools.

The ‘Green Innovator Immersive Learning Lab’ project aims to transform classroom learning through immersive and experiential educational technologies. Under the initiative, Government school students will gain exposure to advanced tools such as Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), 3D learning platforms, and STEM-based educational modules designed to make learning more interactive, engaging, and practical.

The project is expected to create an innovative educational ecosystem where students can understand scientific concepts through visual and hands-on learning experiences. By integrating advanced digital technologies into classrooms, the initiative seeks to bridge the technology gap in Government schools while encouraging creativity, innovation, curiosity, and problem-solving skills among students.

In addition to immersive learning technologies, the project will focus on building future-ready competencies among students. Special emphasis will be laid on coding, robotics, innovation, and digital literacy — skills that are increasingly becoming essential in the evolving global economy. The initiative is expected to empower students studying in Government schools with the confidence and technological exposure needed to compete in a digitally driven future.

This collaboration between REC Limited and IHFC reflects the growing importance of partnerships between public sector enterprises and premier academic institutions in driving educational transformation at the grassroots level. With the expertise of IIT Delhi-backed IHFC in advanced technologies and innovation ecosystems, the project is expected to deliver meaningful impact in the field of school education.

REC Limited, a ‘Maharatna’ Central Public Sector Enterprise under the administrative control of the Ministry of Power, Government of India, has consistently undertaken several CSR initiatives across sectors such as education, healthcare, skill development, sanitation, rural development, and environmental sustainability. Registered with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) as a Non-Banking Finance Company (NBFC), Public Financial Institution (PFI), and Infrastructure Financing Company (IFC), REC finances the entire power infrastructure sector comprising generation, transmission, distribution, renewable energy, and emerging technologies such as Electric Vehicles, Battery Storage Systems, Pumped Storage Projects, Green Hydrogen, and Green Ammonia projects.

REC-Building

In recent years, REC Limited has also diversified into non-power infrastructure sectors including roads and expressways, metro rail, airports, IT communication, ports, hospitals, educational institutions, and electro-mechanical works related to sectors such as steel and refineries. The company continues to play a strategic role in flagship Government programmes for the power sector and has served as the nodal agency for schemes such as SAUBHAGYA, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY), National Electricity Fund (NEF), and the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). REC has also been entrusted with implementation responsibilities under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.

The present CSR initiative further reinforces REC Limited’s commitment towards strengthening the education ecosystem and nurturing young minds through advanced technological exposure. The project also reflects the company’s vision of leveraging innovation and digital learning to create long-term social impact and contribute towards inclusive and sustainable development.
