Indian Bureaucracy News, Bhubaneswar, October 2, 2025 | In a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s enduring ideals with a modern cleanliness effort, the Bhubaneswar Regional Office of REC Limited was recognised by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Gandhi Jayanti. The company received the award for achieving Best CTU Adoption in the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2025 campaign.
The honor was given during the Swachh Bharat Divas celebrations at Ekamra Hall, marking the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation. His dream of a clean India continues to inspire the national effort. The Honourable Mayor of BMC, Smt Sulochana Das, and the Commissioner of BMC, Shri Chanchal Rana, presented the award to the REC team.
This award is about REC’s meaningful impact in the city’s current cleanliness initiative and building sustainable civic infrastructure and encouraging public participation in hygiene practices. Following the Gandhian principle of ‘Shramdaan’ (community labour), the REC team identified and took on five major garbage blackspots that needed urgent attention. Their work has transformed these neglected areas, helping create a cleaner and healthier urban environment for the community.
The Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, which concludes around Gandhi Jayanti, is a nationwide initiative designed to boost community involvement and reinforce India’s dedication to sanitation, a cause that Mahatma Gandhi deeply valued.
