Shri Ravi Agarwal, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the West Bengal cadre, is currently serving as Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Government of West Bengal. He assumed charge of the post on 25 May 2026, bringing with him valuable administrative experience gained through district-level governance and revenue administration.
Before taking over as Commissioner, Shri Agarwal served as Additional District Magistrate (ADM), Purulia, from 12 November 2025 to 25 May 2026. As ADM, he was actively involved in district administration, land revenue management, implementation of government welfare programmes, and coordination among various government departments. His tenure in Purulia enabled him to develop a strong understanding of grassroots governance, public service delivery, and district-level policy execution.
In his present role as Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation, Shri Agarwal is entrusted with overseeing urban governance and municipal administration. His responsibilities include ensuring efficient civic services, improving urban infrastructure, implementing state and centrally sponsored urban development schemes, and strengthening municipal governance. He also plays an important role in coordinating developmental initiatives, public welfare projects, sanitation, waste management, and citizen-centric service delivery within the municipal framework.
As a young IAS officer, Shri Agarwal represents a new generation of civil servants committed to transparent, responsive, and technology-driven governance.
