Raksha Mantri leads cleanliness & plantation activities at Delhi Cantt

#CleanIndia Initiative Led by Raksha Mantri | Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh spearheaded the ‘Swachhata Hi Sewa’ campaign with a special cleanliness programme named ‘Ek Taarikh, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath’ at the Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA) premises in Delhi Cantt. on October 01, 2023. Activities included a thorough cleanliness drive, beautification efforts, and a plantation initiative.

Interacting with Safai Karamcharis, the Raksha Mantri commended their dedication to maintaining cleanliness. He encouraged them to persist in their efforts, aligning with the nationwide movement initiated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, and fulfilling Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a ‘Clean India’. Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Financial Adviser (Defence Service) Smt Rasika Chaube, and CGDA Shri SG Dastidar also actively participated.

Shri Rajnath Singh engaged with Principal Controllers and Controllers of Defence Accounts overseeing various offices and regions. They collectively reviewed the progress of the ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ campaign in their respective areas. The campaign, initiated on September 15, 2023, culminates on Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary on October 02, 2023. Shramdaan activities, facilitated by community participation, serve as a prelude to Swachh Bharat Diwas on Gandhi Jayanti.

Involving over 20,000 officers and staff of the Defence Accounts Department spread across 1,100+ offices and residential colonies nationwide, the campaign encompasses garbage removal, decluttering of files, and awareness campaigns on proper sanitation and hygiene. Similar initiatives have been launched in various establishments under the Ministry of Defence, Services, and related organizations across the country in sync with the ‘Swachhata Hi Sewa’ campaign.
