Shri Rajesh Prabhakar Patil IAS (Odisha 2005) empanelled for holding the post of Joint Secretary or equivalent at the Centre.
Shri Rajesh Prabhakar Patil, an accomplished IAS officer, has built a distinguished career marked by administrative depth, grassroots governance, and policy-level leadership. An academic with a strong foundation in statistics, he holds both a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Statistics from the University of Pune, equipping him with analytical skills that have significantly informed his decision-making across diverse administrative roles.
Belonging to the Odisha cadre, Shri Patil has held several key positions across district administration and state governance. His early career saw him serving as Sub Collector in Athagarh and later in Koraput, where he gained hands-on experience in sub-divisional administration and land revenue management. His ability to manage complex administrative challenges led to his appointment as District Collector and District Magistrate in Koraput, Kandhamal, and Mayurbhanj. Across these जिलों, he played a pivotal role in strengthening district administration, implementing development schemes, and improving governance delivery mechanisms, particularly in tribal and backward regions.
During his tenure as Collector, Shri Patil was known for his focus on inclusive development, efficient land revenue systems, and strengthening local governance institutions. His leadership in Mayurbhanj, one of Odisha’s largest districts, stands out for its emphasis on development administration and effective public service delivery.
He later transitioned to policy-oriented roles at the state level, serving as OSD and subsequently Director in the Department of Human Resource Development and Technical Education in Bhubaneswar. In these roles, he contributed to shaping policies in education and skill development, reflecting his adaptability across sectors.
Shri Patil further expanded his administrative exposure through an inter-cadre deputation to Maharashtra from November 2020 to November 2023. This experience enriched his understanding of governance across different administrative and socio-economic contexts.
Currently serving as Director & Additional Secretary in the Rural Development and Rural Housing Department, he continues to contribute to critical areas of rural transformation, housing, and livelihood generation. His work focuses on implementing flagship schemes, strengthening rural infrastructure, and ensuring effective policy execution at the grassroots level.
