Dr P K Mishra, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, led a comprehensive meeting to assess the progress of the G20 New Delhi Leader’s Declaration implementation. The session convened key participants, including the Vice-Chairman of Niti Aayog, the G20 Sherpa, the G20 Chief Coordinator, and high-ranking officials from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), and Niti Aayog.

The ongoing efforts encompass a series of seven webinars, each led by relevant ministries, designed to engage all pertinent departments. These webinars will explore a range of themes, including strong, sustainable, balanced, and inclusive growth; accelerating progress on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); fostering a green development pact for a sustainable future; reshaping multilateral institutions for the 21st century; embracing technological transformation and Digital Public Infrastructure; advancing women-led development; and countering terrorism and money laundering.

Moreover, a seminar is in the planning stages, with the objective of drawing insights from area experts and think tanks across India to enhance the effective execution of the New Delhi Leader’s Declaration.

Dr Mishra underscored the establishment of a high-level monitoring mechanism to ensure the consistent implementation of the Declaration.

The discussion also touched upon the forthcoming G20 Virtual Summit, a novel initiative introduced by the Prime Minister following the New Delhi Summit. As the pioneer of this virtual gathering subsequent to the main Summit, Dr Mishra emphasized the importance of promptly disseminating information to all member-states and guest countries.

Foreign Secretary Shri Vinay Kwatra provided an update during the meeting on preparations for the second Voice of Global South Summit, scheduled for November 2023.

This gathering exemplifies the government’s steadfast commitment to realizing the Leader’s Declaration and its unwavering dedication to nurturing international collaboration in development and well-being.
