Prime Minister inaugurates projects worth Rs 5000 crores in Jodhpur, Rajasthan

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, visited Jodhpur, Rajasthan, where he laid the foundation stone and dedicated multiple projects worth approximately Rs 5000 crores across various sectors, including health, education, transportation, and infrastructure.

Health Infrastructure Enhancements:

  • The Prime Minister inaugurated the foundation stone laying for a state-of-the-art 350-bed Trauma Centre and Critical Care Hospital Block at AIIMS, Jodhpur.
  • Additionally, seven Critical Care Blocks under Pradhan Mantri – Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) were dedicated to the nation, contributing to the development of critical care infrastructure across Rajasthan.

Transportation and Connectivity:

  • Shri Modi flagged off two new train services in Rajasthan, including the Runicha Express, connecting Jaisalmer to Delhi, and a heritage train linking Marwar Junction to Khambli Ghat.
  • Furthermore, he inaugurated significant rail projects, namely the doubling of the 145 km long ‘Degana-Rai Ka Bagh’ rail line and the 58 km long ‘Degana-Kuchaman City’ rail line.
  • In the road infrastructure sector, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for various projects, including the four-laning of Karwar to Dangiyawas Section of Jodhpur Ring Road on NH-125A, construction of seven Bypasses/Re-alignments of major town portions of Balotra to Sanderao section via Jalore (NH-325), and the four-laning of Pachpadra-Bagundi section of NH-25. These projects, with a cumulative cost of about Rs 1475 crore, are expected to improve connectivity and boost economic growth in the region.

Higher Education:

  • The Prime Minister dedicated the IIT Jodhpur campus to the nation, emphasizing its role in providing high-quality holistic education and supporting research and innovation initiatives.
  • Infrastructure upgrades to the Central University of Rajasthan, including a central instrumentation laboratory, staff quarters, and a yoga & sports sciences building, were also inaugurated. Additionally, the foundation stone was laid for the Central Library, a 600-capacity Hostel, and a dining facility for students at the Central University of Rajasthan.

Aviation and Airport Development:

  • Shri Modi laid the foundation stone for the state-of-the-art New Terminal Building at Jodhpur Airport, aimed at improving connectivity and promoting tourism in the region.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the development projects in Rajasthan and highlighted the state’s historical significance and potential for growth. He emphasized the importance of modern infrastructure for Rajasthan’s development and economic progress. Shri Modi also praised the state’s role in education and medical advancements, citing AIIMS Jodhpur and IIT Jodhpur as examples of institutions contributing to research and innovation.

Governor of Rajasthan, Shri Kalraj Mishra, and Union Ministers, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Kailash Choudhary, were among the dignitaries present at the event.
