Shri Prashant Kumar Singh IAS (Manipur 1993) presently in the cadre has been appointed as Secretary- National Commission for Scheduled Tribes vice Shri Puneet Kumar Goel IAS (AGMUT 1091) (rank and pay of Secretary) by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
Shri Prashant Kumar Singh, a distinguished officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), exemplifies excellence in public service, policy innovation, and governance. A technocrat by training and a civil servant by dedication, Shri Singh holds a B.Tech degree in Electrical Engineering from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi. He further enriched his academic foundation with an M.A. in Public Policy from TERI University, New Delhi, where he was awarded the Gold Medal for academic excellence.
With an illustrious administrative career spanning over three decades, Shri Singh has held critical leadership positions across the state of Manipur and the Government of India. His current role as Secretary, National Commission for Scheduled Tribes, reflects the Centre’s trust in his capacity to steer inclusive policies and safeguard the rights of tribal communities.
He earlier served with distinction as Chief Secretary to the Government of Manipur, where he demonstrated remarkable administrative acumen and a people-first approach in governance. As Secretary in the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, he spearheaded national-level initiatives to advance India’s clean energy ambitions. His visionary leadership at Government e-Marketplace (GeM) as CEO helped revolutionize public procurement through digitization, transparency, and efficiency.
Shri Singh’s diverse experience spans critical domains including public policy, elections, tourism, petroleum and natural gas, education, tribal affairs, and consumer rights. His contributions in the Health & Family Welfare Department, Petroleum Ministry, and Tourism Development in Manipur underscore his versatility and deep commitment to public welfare.
