Prashant Kumar Mishra IAS appointed OSD to Minister for Jal Shakti (Shri C R Patil)
Shri Prashant Kumar Mishra IAS (Karnataka 2014) has been appointed as OSD to the Minister for Jal Shakti (Shri C R Patil) in the Department of Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation at the level of Deputy Secretary for a of four year by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).
Shri Prashant Kumar Mishra IAS is a distinguished officer known for his legal expertise and administrative leadership in governance and public administration. Belonging to the Karnataka cadre of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), he has served in several key positions across district administration, rural governance, and policy support at the Union Government level.

Academically, Shri Mishra holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Gujarat University and further pursued advanced studies in Constitutional Law at Gujarat National Law University, where he graduated with First Class distinction. His strong academic background in constitutional and legal studies has contributed significantly to his policy-oriented administrative approach and governance perspective.
Shri Mishra began his professional journey in the civil services after undergoing foundational training at the prestigious Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie, where officers of the Indian Administrative Service receive their initial training in governance, public policy, and administrative practices.
Over the course of his career, he has handled important assignments in district administration and rural development. He served as Chief Executive Officer in the Panchayats Department, Mysore, where he played a significant role in strengthening Panchayati Raj institutions and local self-governance systems. In this role, he worked closely with local bodies to enhance rural development programs, improve service delivery, and promote grassroots participation in governance.
Subsequently, he was appointed Deputy Commissioner (Deputy Secretary Equivalent) in Karnataka, where he was responsible for district administration, land revenue management, and coordination of developmental initiatives. His tenure in district administration involved overseeing law and order, implementing government schemes, and ensuring effective coordination among various departments.
Recognizing his administrative capabilities, Shri Mishra has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Minister, Jal Shakti, Government of India, with Deputy Secretary equivalent rank in the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation at the Centre from March 2026. In this role, he assists in policy formulation, administrative coordination, and strategic initiatives related to water resources and river rejuvenation.
With a combination of legal scholarship, administrative experience, and policy exposure, Shri Prashant Kumar Mishra continues to contribute meaningfully to governance and public administration in India.
