The Secretary, Food & Civil Supplies Department, Government of Sikkim is responsible for formulating and implementing policies to ensure food security and equitable distribution of essential commodities across the state. The position oversees the Public Distribution System (PDS), procurement, storage, and supply of food grains and other necessities. The Secretary also coordinates with central and state agencies to maintain adequate stock levels, prevent hoarding, and protect consumer interests. This role is crucial in ensuring that all citizens, especially those in remote areas, have access to affordable and quality food supplies, thereby upholding Sikkim’s commitment to welfare and inclusive governance.
