As part of its Swachh Bharath Drive, NLC India Limited organized a massive Cleaning activity at Manimuktah River Virudhachalam under its CSR initiative on 20.08.2017.
Responding to the call of NLCIL India, various social organizations and other groups including Schools and Colleges turned out in large numbers to volunteer in this cleaning activity.
Dr. Sart Kumar Acharya, CMD, NLCIL formally flagged of the cleaning activities of Manimuktah river in the presence of Shri A. Arunmozhithevan, Member of Parliament, Cuddalore, Shri Kalaiselvan V .T, MLA, Virudhachalam
Dr. S.K Acharya in his address said, NLCIL making its sustained efforts to desilt the water bodies and also dig bore-wells to feed the water bodies to meet the regular requirement of the public in surrounding villages under its CSR initiatives. Also as part of Clean India awareness moment & programmes are organized focusing on quality, Hygiene life and sanitation importance of ODF status, he added,.
He stated that, stabilization of water bodies not only helps in control problem of safely draining out in villages, also these can converted into beautified and tourism spots.
Organizations and Administrators float a scheme and bring it in to action to motivate people, but the actual responsibility lies with the people to maintain it he said.
Shri .Arunmozhithevan, M.P and Shri Kalaiselvan V.T, MLA appreciated and thanked NLCIL management for taking this massive cleaning activity along with its highly praised Water Augmentation Initiatives and CSR initiatives.
NLCIL engages 16 machineries including6 hydralic Excavators,Tippers etc. to clean the river bed and uproot Julifloura trees and other vegetations. The company has allocated Rs. 10 lakhs under its CSR initiatives. As many as 2500 Volunteers from NLCIL, Volunteers organizations from Neyveli, Virudhachalm participated in this massive clean drive.
