NLCIL provides Toilets to surrounding Villages to end Open Defecation

As many as 9 New Toilets constructed by NLCIL under its CSR Intiatives in the first phase, 3 nos of one pan FRP shelter toilets at Pallineerodai & 6 nos at Koranapattu Village were inaugurated for the residents of a village in a move to end the practice of open defecation.As a part of implementation of need specific developmental activities for declaring the villages as ODF under CSR, Dr. Sarat Kumar Acharya CMD NLCIL &  Shri. R.Vikraman Director (HR) directed the construction of toilets for the nearby 3 villages Kolliruppu, Pallineerodai & Koranapattu to end open defecation. These toilets were erected at locations identified by local administration at a cost of Rs.3.32 Lakhs.

In a simple  function organized at Pallineerodai & Koranapattu on 21.02.2018, Shri.R.Mohan, CGM/CSR handed over the newly constructed toilets  to  Shri.Thamizhmani, BDO/ Kurinjipadi, in presence of Shri J.Peter James GM/CSR, Shri S.R.Sekar GM/CSR & Shri K.Ramesh DGM/CSR besides local villagers.

While addressing the villagers at the function CGM/CSR insisted the importance of keeping the surrounding clean and the need to end open defecation. He said, NLCIL was endeavoring its best to make surrounding villages  open defecation free (ODF)and handing over toilets to villagers here is a component of it. BDO/ Kurinjipadi stressed the need for continued maintenance of the facilities provided to the villagers themselves and stated that monitoring will be done by the local administration  regularly regarding the upkeep.
