NLC India Limited observed the National Energy Conservation Day as part of the National Energy Conservation Week -2017 celebrations at the Lignite Hall, Neyveli , on 14.12.2016. Prof. S. Manian, Vice-Chancellor Annamalai University participated as the Guest of honour.
Shri Rakesh Kumar, Director (Finance) NLCIL, the Chief Guest in his inaugural address said, NLCIL management is stupendously stressing on energy efficiency, cost-effective measures like Dynamic Loading System in Conveyors to reduce energy consumption and developing systematic approach towards energy efficiency improvements. He said, energy conservation should be way of life for each individual and it is the only way to avoid ecological and economic damage.
Prof. S. Manian in his key note address stated that, energy conservation is the only means which helps in replacing the fossil fuel resources to minimize carbon emissions to combat climate change. Every individual to organizations need to sensitize the awareness about the judicious use of natural resources both at domestic and commercial levels.
Functional Directors, Shri V. Thangapandian, Director (Power) Shri P.Selva Kumar Director (Planning &Projects) and Shri R. Vikraman, Director (HR) felicitated the occasion. A pamphlet on energy conservation methods at Domestic level was released by Prof. S. Manian and first copy received by Shri Rakesh Kumar. Prizes were distributed to school children for winning the competitions organized in line with National Energy Conservation Week -2017.
After the programme Shri Rakesh Kumar flagged off a rally organized by Neyveli Kendriya Vidyalaya school children to create awareness among public about the need of energy conservation. Also to mark the occasion, a massive human chain was formed by school children at Main bazaar, Neyveli. Senior Executives, employees and School children participated in large number.
Earlier all employees took energy conservation pledge at their respective units. As part of weeklong celebrations in all units training sessions arranged for its executives and employees by eminent personalities on topics like Power ,Petroleum Conservation and Road safety.
