NLCIL celebrates International Yoga Day 2018

NLCIL celebrated the Fourth International Day of Yoga in a big way on 21/06/2018 with the theme of this year’s celebration “Yoga for Peace”. The main aim of this year’s celebration is to create awareness worldwide on the importance of staying fit and healthy.

Dr. Sarat Kumar Acharya, CMD, NLC formally inaugurated the   Fourth International Yoga Day celebrations at Bharathi Stadium, Neyveli . In his International Yoga Day Message, Dr. S.K Acharya stressed on the importance of Yoga and appealed everyone to practice yoga classes to stay fit and embrace healthy choices to lead happy life. More than 1000 students from 14 schools of Neyveli participated in yoga demonstration.

Shri Rakesh Kumar, Director (Finance) Shri V.Thangapandian, Director (Power) and Shri R.Vikraman, Director (HR) of NLC graced the occasion. Senior officials, employees, Representatives of Trade Unions and Associations and yoga masters from institutes like  Isha Yoga centre, Temple of consciousness   (Vedathri Maharishi Institute ) and Brahma Kumaris also joined the demonstration and encouraged the students. All the yoga gurus and representatives from the above said institutions were honored by CMD, NLCIL.

As part of the Swachhta Pakhwada from 16/06/2018 to 30/06/2018, a Swachh Rally was flagged off by CMD in the august presence of Functional Directors. Around 1100 students took part in the rally. The rally started from Bharathi stadium, Block-10 and concluded at Gandhi Statue, Main Bazaar. Also NLCIL organized special yoga classes to more than 1,350 students’ schools of peripheral villages at Govt Hr Sc School, Puthunagar, Vadalur, Govt Hr Sc School, Marungur, Govt Hr Sc School, Iruppu. Govt Middle School,  A.Agaram in coordination with People Service Group, Sri Rama Krishna Seva Sangam, Neyvei Blood Donors Association and Asociation of Voluntary Blood Donors.

Also, NLCIL organized special yoga Classes at Ananda Illam – Home for Elders, Sneha opportunity Services a day care Centre for special children and six other schools at  Neyveli involving 1300 students.

It is worth to mention that NLCIL has introduced YOGA as a module in the Workers Education Programme being organized for non-executives by Learning and Development Centre and Yoga day celebrations observed by the participant employees on Yoga Day.  Earlier, NLCIL has already developed 16 yoga centres in and around Neyveli and provided necessary audio-visual equipment for observing and practicing yoga and fitness; Yoga mats etc. to the Centre’s for continuous practice throughout the year. More than,  4000 students including general public benefitted by this programe.
