Indian Bureaucracy, Gandhinagar, January 02, 2025| In an important administrative move, aimed at better delivery and impact of public welfare policies across Gujarat, the state government has established nine new municipal corporations.
Geographically spread across the regions of North & South of Gujarat, Saurashtra & Kutch, and Central Gujarat namely: North Gujarat – Mehsana; South Gujarat – Vapi and Navsari; Saurashtra – Surendranagar, Morbi, and Porbandar; Kutch region – Gandhidham; Central Gujarat – Anand and Nadiad, these corporations are designed to improve essential services such as public health, sanitation, education, and infrastructure, all of which play a crucial role in the well-being of communities at the grassroots level.
The Commissioners of the newly created Municipals are:
Saurashtra and Kutch Region
- Municipal Commissioner, Surendranagar – Shri G H Solanki IAS (Gujarat 2014).
- Municipal Commissioner, Morbi – Shri Swapnil Khare IAS (Gujarat 2017).
- Municipal Commissioner, Porbandar – Shri H J Prajapati GAS.
- Municipal Commissioner of Gandhidham – Shri M P Pandya GAS.
Central Gujarat Region
- Municipal Commissioner, Anand – Shri Milind Bapna IAS (Gujarat 2017).
- Municipal Commissioner, Nadiad – Shri Mirant Parikh IAS (Gujarat 2017)
North Gujarat Region
- Municipal Commissioner, Mehsana – Shri Ravindra Khatale IAS (Gujarat 2016)
South Gujarat Region
- Municipal Commissioner of Vapi – Shri Dev Choudhary IAS (Gujarat 2016).
- Municipal Commissioner, Navsari – Shri Yogesh Choudhary IAS (Gujarat 2016)
