Bola Ahmed Tinubu conferred the national honor of “Grand Commander of the Order of Niger” on Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, recognizing his statesmanship and significant contributions to strengthening India-Nigeria relations. The award citation highlighted Prime Minister Modi’s visionary leadership, positioning India as a global powerhouse and fostering unity, peace, and shared prosperity.
Accepting the award, Prime Minister Modi dedicated it to the people of India and the enduring friendship between India and Nigeria. He emphasized that the honor reflects the Strategic Partnership between the two nations and their shared commitment to the aspirations of the Global South. Notably, Prime Minister Modi is the first foreign leader to receive this prestigious award since 1969.
