Her career began with grassroots administrative exposure as Sub-Divisional Officer and Chief Executive Officer in Panchayati Raj institutions, where she gained first-hand experience in rural governance and district administration. Her tenure as District Collector, Janjgir-Champa, and Secretary, Board of Revenue, Bilaspur, further demonstrated her capacity to manage land revenue administration and district-level development with diligence. She later handled responsibilities in Mining, Geology, and School Education Departments, reflecting her ability to transition seamlessly across diverse portfolios.

A significant phase of her State cadre service in Chhattisgarh saw her holding multiple Secretary-level assignments concurrently, including General Administration, Public Grievances Redressal, Science & Technology, Technical Education, and Manpower Planning. Such trust reposed in her underscored her administrative reliability and policy comprehension. Her leadership in election management—as Additional Chief Electoral Officer and subsequently Chief Electoral Officer—placed her at the helm of conducting free and fair elections, an area demanding precision, transparency, and institutional coordination.

Her move to the Government of India marked another important chapter. As Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, she contributed to policy coordination in one of the country’s most sensitive ministries from May 2017 to March 2021. She later served as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Heavy Industries, where she was associated with policy matters concerning industrial growth and public enterprises.
