National PR Day | PRSD, Delhi honours Veteran Media Professionals
NEW DELHI: The Public Relations Society, Delhi (PRSD) marked National Public Relations Day with a meaningful celebration at the Press Club of India, where several distinguished veterans from the fields of public relations, media, and corporate communication were felicitated for their exceptional contribution to the profession. The event reflected PRSD’s continuing commitment to recognizing individuals whose dedication and professionalism have helped shape the communication landscape in India over the decades.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of senior communication strategists, corporate leaders, branding experts, media veterans, and young professionals from across the National Capital Region. The gathering served not only as a platform for honouring accomplished professionals but also as an occasion to reflect on the evolving role of strategic communication in today’s fast-changing media ecosystem.
Among those honoured during the ceremony was Ms Ira Joshi, IIS, former Director General (News), All India Radio and Doordarshan. Widely respected for her distinguished service in public broadcasting and government communication, Ms Joshi has played a significant role in strengthening credible public information dissemination during her long and accomplished career.
Also felicitated was Ms Usha Krishnan, former General Manager (Public Relations), NHPC Limited, whose contribution to corporate communication and stakeholder engagement in the public sector has been highly regarded within the industry. Her work over the years has been associated with building strong institutional communication frameworks and enhancing public outreach initiatives.
Ms Nisha Sharma, former Deputy General Manager (Public Relations), Standing Conference of Public Enterprises, was also honoured for her contribution to the field of public relations and organizational communication. Known for her professional commitment and communication expertise, she has been associated with several initiatives aimed at strengthening dialogue between public institutions and stakeholders.
Shri Om Prakash, former General Manager (Public Relations), Power Finance Corporation, received recognition for his long-standing contribution to corporate communication within the power and infrastructure sector. His experience and leadership in public relations have earned him considerable respect among communication professionals.
The ceremony also recognized Shri Devender Singh, Chief Editor of The Pioneer, for his contribution to journalism and media. His association with the media industry and editorial leadership has contributed significantly to informed public discourse and responsible journalism.
The honours were presented by the PRSD leadership team led by Chairman Shri G.S. Bawa. The ceremony was further graced by the presence of Past Chairmen Shri S.S. Rao and Dr. Sarvesh Tiwari, whose continued association with PRSD reflects the organization’s strong institutional continuity and professional heritage.

Daoundiyal, former Deputy General Manager (Public Relations), THDC India Limited.
