Dr. N Nandakumar IFS (2007) presently Consul General, Consulate General of India, Shanghai, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Mali.
Dr. N Nandakumar, an accomplished and dedicated career diplomat from the 2007 batch of the Indian Foreign Service, has made significant contributions through his extensive service. Since February 2021, he has been a valued member of the Consulate General of India in Shanghai. In the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi, Dr. Nandakumar has showcased his expertise as Director in the Office of the Minister of State for External Affairs and as Deputy Secretary in the Finance Division, where he skillfully managed development projects spanning India’s neighborhood, ASEAN countries, and Africa.
His impressive overseas career includes serving as India’s Consul General in Mandalay, Myanmar, and representing the nation with distinction at the Indian Mission in Tehran.
Dr. Nandakumar’s academic credentials are equally remarkable. Holding a Doctorate in Genetics from the prestigious Indian Agricultural Institute in New Delhi, he combines intellectual rigor with practical wisdom. A polyglot, he is fluent in Hindi, English, Tamil, Kannada, and Persian, further enriching his diplomatic capabilities.
Outside his professional sphere, Dr. Nandakumar enjoys reading, cricket, and yoga. He is a devoted family man, happily married with a son. His multifaceted achievements and personable nature make him an invaluable asset to India’s diplomatic community.
