The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, recently organized ‘Samajik Adhikarita Shivirs’ across 72 locations simultaneously across the country. The ministry has also adopted new technology, such as 3D scanning technology, to produce high-quality aids and assistive devices for persons with disabilities and senior citizens. Tikamgarh became the first district to benefit from this innovative initiative.

These camps aimed to distribute various types of aid and assistive devices to over 12,814 pre-identified senior citizens as part of the Government of India’s Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana scheme. The objective was to foster an inclusive society, empowering senior citizens to lead productive, secure, and dignified lives.

These distribution camps were organized by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, in coordination with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO).

The event in Tripura’s Dhalai witnessed the presence of Kumari Pratima Bhaumik, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, and was connected online to the main program venue in Tikamgarh.

Various types of assistive devices, including foot care units, spinal support, wheelchairs with commode, spectacles, dentures, silicone cushions, LS belts, tripods, knee braces, and walkers, were distributed. These assistive devices aim to make beneficiaries self-reliant and empower them to integrate into the mainstream of society.
