Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the Akashvani Dahod FM Relay Station Project in Gujarat. The 10-kilowatt FM relay station’s foundation stone plaque was virtually unveiled by the Prime Minister during an event in Bodeli, Gujarat. The station, estimated to cost Rs. 11.00 Crore, strategically covers a 55 km radius, including around 75% of the tribal district of Dahod and parts of Madhya Pradesh’s tribal districts, such as Alirajpur and Jhabua. This initiative will provide high-quality FM broadcasts to over 25 lakh residents of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, enhancing cultural, informational, and connectivity prospects for the region. Additionally, Prasar Bharati is working on FM transmitters in various locations, further extending the FM coverage and reach to a broader audience. Currently, Akashvani boasts 613 operational FM transmitters, covering approximately 59.2% of India’s area and serving about 73.5% of its population, reaffirming its role as a reliable source of entertainment, information, and cultural enrichment.
