Ministry of Rural Development to conduct 2nd National Seminar on Re-imagining Social Audit of Rural Development Programmes

Union Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Shri Giriraj Singh, will deliver the keynote address at the 2nd National Seminar on “Social Audit of Rural Development Programmes” scheduled for September 26, 2023, at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre. The seminar’s theme, “Re-imagining Social Audit with a view to bring transparency and accountability,” reflects the commitment to enhancing governance in rural development initiatives. Distinguished leaders, including Union Ministers, government officials, and experts, will participate in this event, discussing experiences, insights, and best practices in social audit processes. Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act empowers Gram Sabha to conduct regular social audits of rural development projects, promoting transparency and accountability in government schemes. The seminar aims to review the implementation status of social audits and formulate a roadmap for their enhancement across states and union territories.
