The “Meri Maati Mera Desh” (MMMD) campaign, a nationwide initiative to honor the sacrifices of India’s valiant heroes, is reaching its final phase as Amrit Kalash Yatras are underway throughout the country. This ambitious campaign, which seeks to engage every household across India, has been a monumental undertaking made possible through the collective efforts of various Ministries, State governments, and organizations. Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Zonal Cultural Centers, Central Armed Police Forces, Indian Post, Miety, and Coal have all played a pivotal role in collecting soil from households in villages and block levels. Their unwavering commitment to community service and nation-building is emblematic of their dedication to achieving this noble mission.

The Ministry of Culture’s zonal culture centers have been instrumental in organizing cultural programs in rural areas nationwide, spreading awareness about the MMMD campaign and enhancing its outreach. To date, more than 4419 blocks have successfully conducted Meri Maati Mera Desh programs, with enthusiastic participation from the masses.

Launched on August 9, 2023, the nationwide “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign was initiated to pay homage to the brave individuals known as ‘Veers’ who have selflessly sacrificed their lives for the nation. This campaign serves as the culmination of the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav,’ which commenced on March 12, 2021, and witnessed extensive public engagement (Jan Bhagidari) through the organization of over 200,000 programs throughout India.

The initial phase of the Meri Maati Mera Desh campaign has witnessed remarkable success, with extensive outreach and substantial public involvement. Thus far, more than 233,000 Shilaphalakams have been constructed across 36 States/Union Territories. Additionally, nearly 40 million selfies with the Panch Pran pledge have been uploaded to the campaign’s website. Furthermore, the campaign has organized over 200,000 felicitation programs, honoring Bravehearts nationwide. Under the theme of Vasudha Vandan, over 236 million indigenous saplings have been planted, and 263,000 Amrit Vatikas have been created.

The grand culmination of the Amrit Kalash Yatras will take place at Kartavya Path on October 30th and 31st, 2023. This pinnacle event in the nationwide initiative will feature the placement of a monumental Kalash, symbolizing the unity in diversity that India stands for. The Kalash will contain soil collected from every corner of the country and will be ceremoniously positioned in the Amrit Vatika and Amrit Mahotsav Memorial. This momentous celebration will be enhanced by vibrant cultural programs and captivating light and sound shows, offering attendees a rich sensory experience. Specially curated experience zones will allow participants to deeply connect with the essence of this historic campaign, fostering an appreciation of the collective spirit of the nation and establishing a profound and enduring legacy to honor the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
