MHA | 33,152 Cyber Crime Incidents reported on National Cybercrime Reporting portal till 30.01.2020

PIB News Update:Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, in a written reply to a question regarding cyber crimes, in Rajya Sabha today, said that Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) operationalised National Cybercrime Reporting Portal on 30th August, 2019 and the complaints reported are dealt by the Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) of the concerned State/UT as per provisions of the law. 33,152 cyber crime incidents have been reported till 30.01.2020 on the portal, wherein 790 FIRs have been registered by the concerned LEAs.

Shri Reddy informed that MHA has rolled out a scheme ‘Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C)’ to combat cyber crime in the country, in a coordinated and effective manner. The scheme has following seven components:

(i)  National Cybercrime Threat Analytics Unit.

(ii) National Cybercrime Reporting Portal.

(iii) Platform for Joint Cybercrime Investigation Team.

(iv) National Cybercrime Forensic Laboratory Ecosystem.

(v) National Cybercrime Training Centre.

(vi) National Cybercrime Ecosystem Management Unit.

(vii) National Cybercrime Research and Innovation Centre.

 

The Minister added that 21 States/UTs, namely Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Odisha, Puducherry, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura and Uttarakhand have agreed to setup the Regional Cyber Crime Coordination Centres.
