Mauchumi Barua IAS appointed to Junior Administrative Grade of IAS
Smt Mauchumi Barua IAS (Assam Meghalaya 2015) presently Secretary – Finance Department, Assam has been appointed to the Junior Administrative Grade of IAS (Level 12 of Pay Matrix) .
The Secretary in the Finance Department of the Government of Assam is a senior administrative officer responsible for overseeing the state’s financial management and fiscal policy framework. The position plays a key role in the formulation and implementation of the state budget, monitoring government expenditure, and ensuring efficient allocation of financial resources across departments. The Secretary advises the state leadership on matters related to taxation, public expenditure, financial reforms, and economic planning. Working closely with various government departments and financial institutions, the Secretary ensures compliance with financial rules, maintains fiscal discipline, and facilitates timely release of funds for development programmes and public welfare schemes. The role also involves supervising directorates and agencies functioning under the Finance Department, including accounts, treasury operations, and financial inspections. Through policy guidance, coordination, and administrative oversight, the Secretary – Finance Department contributes significantly to strengthening public financial management and supporting the overall governance and development priorities of the Government of Assam.
