Major General (Retd.) Bhaskar Kalita appointed as Member – Assam Public Service Commission.

The General Officer, a product of Sainik School Goalpara, Assam, is a distinguished alumnus of both the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Pune and the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun. Commissioned into 19 Kumaon in June 1985, he has held pivotal roles such as Commanding Officer of 19 Kumaon, Commander of 11 Mountain Brigade, and Deputy Director General (DDG) of Weapons & Equipment (WE) Contract Negotiation Committee (CNC) at Integrated Headquarters (IHQ) of Ministry of Defence (Army). His career highlights include serving as General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 56 Infantry Division and Uttarakhand Sub Area.

Furthermore, the General Officer served as the Chief Project Coordinator (CPC) at Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (IDS), overseeing the prestigious projects of the National War Memorial and National War Museum. Noteworthy accolades include the Chief of Army Staff’s (COAS) commendation card in 2010 and the Yudh Seva Medal (YSM) in 2014. A native of Assam, his contributions to the military landscape are highly commendable.
