Indian Bureaucracy News, Mumbai, August 29, 2025| The Maharashtra government has extended the tenure of Chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar IAS (Maharashtra 1988) by three months. Kumar, who was scheduled to retire on 31 August, will continue in office from 1 September to 30 November 2025 under Rule 16(1) of the All India Services (DCRB) Rules, 1958. The order was issued on Thursday (28.08.2025).
An IAS officer of the 1988 batch, Kumar joined the service on August 25, 1988, and has held key assignments in the state and at the Centre across departments including cooperation and marketing, textiles, rural development, industries, women and child development, and social justice. He has also served as District Collector in Osmanabad and Jalgaon, Municipal Commissioner in Mumbai, and Director in the Agriculture & Cooperation Department at the Centre.
Before his elevation as Chief Secretary, he was Additional Chief Secretary, Cooperation and Marketing Department, and Director of Textiles, Mumbai.
