Who is IAS Leena Johri | Smt. Leena Johri, IAS, a senior officer of the 1994 batch of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, has been promoted to the prestigious rank of Additional Chief Secretary (ACS). She presently serves as Principal Secretary, Women & Child Development, and Director General of the Rashtriya Poshan Mission, where she has been leading transformative initiatives to improve child nutrition, women’s welfare, and social development outcomes across the state.
An accomplished academic, Smt. Johri holds a Postgraduate degree in History and an M.Sc. in Public Policy and Management from King’s College London, where she graduated with First Division. Her strong grounding in public policy and governance has consistently reflected in her administrative career marked by efficiency, empathy, and evidence-based decision-making.
Throughout her illustrious service spanning nearly three decades, Smt. Johri has held several key assignments in both the Government of Uttar Pradesh and the Government of India. At the Centre, she served as Additional Secretary and Financial Adviser and earlier as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Rural Development, where she contributed significantly to rural infrastructure, livelihoods, and social welfare programs. Her leadership helped streamline financial management and enhance the implementation of flagship schemes impacting millions in rural India.
At the state level, Smt. Johri has served in diverse capacities including Secretary, Home Department; Relief Commissioner; Secretary (Minority Welfare); Principal Secretary (Ayush); and Secretary (Registration & Stamps). She has also held district-level leadership roles such as District Magistrate of Bijnor and Barabanki, where she focused on governance reforms, disaster response, and welfare delivery mechanisms. Her tenure has been marked by a reputation for administrative precision, people-centric governance, and proactive problem-solving.
As Director General of the Rashtriya Poshan Mission, Smt.
