Krishna Kumar IAS appointed Deputy Secretary – Department of Rural Development
Shri Krishna Kumar IAS (Manipur 2013) has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Rural Development, Delhi under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of four years.
Shri Krishna Kumar, IAS is a distinguished civil servant known for his diverse administrative experience across district governance, urban development, and key policy roles at both the state and central levels. Academically, he has demonstrated consistent merit, completing his graduation in Humanities from M.D. University, Rohtak with first division, followed by a B.Ed. in Social Sciences from Chaudhary Devi Lal University, Sirsa, also securing first division. He further pursued a postgraduate degree in Political Science from Rajasthan University, earning second division.
He began his civil services journey with training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie. Early in his career, he served as Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, gaining exposure to policymaking at the central level. His field assignments started as Sub-Divisional Officer in Ukhrul, Manipur, followed by key roles as Deputy Commissioner in Chandel, Tamenglong, and later Palwal and Faridabad during inter-cadre deputation.
As Deputy Commissioner, he handled critical responsibilities in land revenue management, district administration, and development initiatives. His tenure as CEO of the Smart City SPV in Faridabad highlighted his capabilities in urban governance and infrastructure planning. He also briefly served in senior administrative roles in Haryana, contributing to land revenue and urban planning functions.
In 2025, he was appointed Special Secretary in Manipur, handling portfolios such as Higher Education and Power, reflecting his versatility in policy domains. Subsequently, he assumed the role of Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, where he contributes to national-level rural development strategies.
