Shri Krishna Bajpai IAS (Karnataka 2010) has been appointed as Director in the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, Delhi under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of five years.
Shri Krishna Bajpai, IAS, is a highly accomplished civil servant whose career reflects an exceptional blend of technical excellence, global policy exposure, and rich administrative experience across multiple domains. An alumnus of the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, he holds both a B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering and an M.Tech. in Instrumentation, equipping him with a strong analytical foundation and systems-oriented thinking. Further enhancing his administrative acumen, he pursued a Master of Public Administration from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, graduating with First Class Distinction—an achievement that underscores his commitment to excellence in governance and public policy.
Over the years, Shri Bajpai has built a distinguished career marked by versatility and steady progression through key administrative roles. His recent tenure as Regional Commissioner, Gulbarga, placed him at the helm of divisional administration, where he oversaw land revenue management, coordinated district-level governance, and ensured effective policy implementation across the region. His leadership in this role reflected a balanced approach to administrative oversight and developmental coordination.
During his association with the Hyderabad Karnataka Area Development Board (HKADB) as Secretary, he contributed to regional development initiatives aimed at addressing infrastructure gaps and promoting equitable growth. His concurrent responsibilities in revenue administration further demonstrated his ability to manage complex and overlapping mandates with clarity and efficiency.
Shri Bajpai’s experience in the transport sector is particularly noteworthy. As Managing Director of the North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) and the State Urban Development Authority’s Mass Rapid Transport Corporation in Hubli, he played a crucial role in strengthening public transport systems and urban mobility infrastructure. His tenure in these roles reflects a keen understanding of large-scale operations and public service delivery in critical sectors.
His earlier role as Deputy Commissioner of Haveri district provided him with extensive field-level administrative experience, where he was responsible for district governance, law and order, and implementation of development programs. This assignment further reinforced his ability to translate policy into impactful outcomes at the grassroots level.
In the domain of governance reforms and institutional development, Shri Bajpai has made significant contributions. As Director and Project Director at the Centre for Good Governance in Bengaluru, he was involved in advancing e-governance initiatives and leveraging technology for administrative efficiency. His work in this space highlights his inclination towards innovation and modernization in public administration.
He also served as Controller of Examinations at the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC), where he was associated with recruitment processes and personnel management, ensuring transparency and efficiency in public service selection systems. His early career assignments, including roles as Sub-Divisional Officer in Patna and Assistant Collector in Purnia, laid a strong foundation in grassroots administration.
