Indian Bureaucracy News, Thiruvananthapuram, June 24, 2026 | In a top-level bureaucratic transition, the newly elected Congress govt and the state Cabinet on Wednesday cleared the appointment of senior IAS officer Bishwanath Sinha as the state’s next Chief Secretary, positioning the seasoned bureaucrat to take over the state’s top administrative post.
Shri Sinha, a 1991-batch Kerala cadre officer with about two years left before his scheduled retirement in 2028, is currently serving as Additional Chief Secretary (Home) and will take charge on July 1, succeeding Shri A Jayathilak, who retires on June 30.
In a separate decision, the Cabinet also recommended the appointment of retired district judge N Seshadrinathan as the State Election Commissioner a move that comes months after the previous LDF government’s pick, Law Secretary K G Sanal Kumar, faced a stalemate after the Governor sat on the recommendation.
The Cabinet also cleared a slew of appointments for the Kerala High Court, including four Special Government Pleaders, 12 Senior Government Pleaders, and 24 Government Pleaders, besides extending 243 posts in six special land registration offices across Idukki, Thrissur, Peerumade, and Nemom.
Indian Bureaucracy News wishes Shri Bishwanath Sinha the very best.
