Shri Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava presently Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court has been transferred as Chief Justice of the Madras High Court.
Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava, was born on March 6, 1964, in Bilaspur, into a family deeply rooted in education and the legal profession. A bright student from an early age, he pursued his graduation in science before turning to law. His academic brilliance earned him a Gold Medal in LL.B. from Guru Ghasidas University, where he was also nominated as a member of the Board of Studies and Academic Council—a recognition reserved for meritorious students.
Enrolled as an advocate with the Bar Council of Madhya Pradesh in 1987, Justice Shrivastava began his legal practice in the District Court at Raigarh under the mentorship of his uncle, a distinguished figure at the Bar. Later, he moved to the principal seat of the Madhya Pradesh High Court at Jabalpur and joined the chambers of his elder brother, a noted senior advocate known for constitutional law expertise. Over the years, he handled a wide range of cases spanning constitutional, labour, service, education, election, and local laws, and was empanelled for various government departments including the Income Tax Department and the High Court of Madhya Pradesh.
Following the formation of Chhattisgarh in 2000, he shifted his practice to the Chhattisgarh High Court. His legal acumen saw him being appointed as Standing Counsel for numerous prominent institutions including the Income Tax Department, Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board, universities, and public sector undertakings. In recognition of his contributions to the Bar, he was designated as a Senior Advocate in 2005. His judicial journey commenced with his elevation as a Judge of the High Court on December 10, 2009.
Justice Shrivastava has also played key administrative roles including Chairmanship of the State Judicial Academy, leadership of the High Court Computer Committee, and membership in the Judicial Service Selection Committee. He was transferred to the Rajasthan High Court on October 18, 2021, where he served with distinction as Executive Chairman of the State Legal Services Authority, Administrative Judge, and Acting Chief Justice.
On February 6, 2024, he was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court. Known for his clarity of thought, balanced judgment, and deep commitment to the rule of law, Justice Shrivastava continues to uphold the highest traditions of the Indian judiciary.
