Justice Govinda Ananda Sanap presently Additional Judge appointed as Judge of Bombay High Court, in exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India to the President of India, after consultation with Chief Justice of India, vide notifications dated 03.03.2023.
Justice Govinda s/o. Anandrao and Prayag Sanap was born on 24th February, 1963. Born and brought up in farmer’s family. Completed his school education in Zilla Parishad school at village Bhar (Jahangir), Taluka Risod, District Washim. Completed his graduation (B.A.) from Rajasthan College of Arts and Science Washim. Completed his law graduation (LL.B) in first class from Sitabai Arts and Law College, Akola (affiliated to Amravati University). Enrolled as an Advocate on roll of Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa in October 1988. Practiced at Washim and Malegaon on civil and criminal side. In January 1996 was appointed as a Judge of the Small Causes Court, Bombay. Promoted as a District & Sessions Judge in 2008 and posted at Nashik. At Nashik was appointed as a Ex-officio Chairman of Saptashrungimata Devasthan, Wani, Taluka Kalwan, District Nashik. In 2010, was appointed as a Registrar (Personnel and Protocol), High Court, Bombay.
In 2011, transferred to City Civil and Sessions Court, Mumbai. In 2011, was appointed as a Presiding Officer of Special TADA Court for conducting 1993 Mumbai Serial Bomb Blast case and other cases under TADA (P) Act. In 2017, completed the trial and delivered judgment in 1993 Mumbai Serial Bomb Blast case. During this period was Special Judge under N.D.P.S. Act as well. After completion of Bomb Blast Case conducted 26/11 Mumbai Terror Attack case and recorded the evidence of 79 witnesses. In 26/11, Mumbai Terror Attack case recorded the evidence of approver via Video Conference. The approver was produced via Video Conference from U.S.A. In June 2018 was appointed Principal District and Sessions Judge, Jalgaon for two years. Before being elevated as a Judge of the Bombay High Court was posted as a President of Maharashtra State Co-operative Appellate Court, Mumbai. Elevated as a Additional Judge of the Bombay High Court on 25th June, 2021.
