Shri John Thomas IRSEE (1982) (Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers) has been appointed General Manager- Southern Railway, Chennai. He started his his service as Assistant Electrical Engineer on Southern Railway in 1986, John Thomas went on to serve in several key posts including Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Chennai, Chief Electrical Loco Engineer, Chief Projects Manager (Electrification), Chennai, Divisional Railway Manager, Sholapur, Central Railway and Chief Safety Officer, Southern Railway. Shri Thomas had initiated various innovative measures towards energy conservation leading to the zone achieving a record nine National Energy Conservation Awards for 2016 from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power.
