Jitender Yadav IAS empanelled as Joint Secretary
Shri Jitender Yadav IAS (AGMUT 2010) has been empanelled as Joint Secretary at the Centre.
Shri Jitender Yadav, IAS is a senior civil servant with a strong academic background in mechanical engineering and wide-ranging administrative experience across transport, urban governance, taxation, and district administration.
He completed his B.E. in Mechanical Engineering with First position from CRSCE, Murthal, affiliated to Maharshi Dayanand University. He further pursued his M.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering with First position from YMCA Institute of Engineering, Faridabad, also under Maharshi Dayanand University. His technical education has shaped his analytical and systems-oriented approach to governance.
Currently, Shri Yadav serves as Managing Director of Delhi Transport Corporation (from September 23, 2025 – till date), where he is responsible for steering public transport operations in the national capital. In addition, he holds the additional charge of Special Commissioner (Transport), Government of NCT of Delhi, overseeing broader transport policy, regulatory frameworks, and mobility reforms. His leadership comes at a time when urban mobility, sustainability, and public transport modernization are key governance priorities.
Prior to this, he served as Additional Commissioner in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (July 2024 – September 2025), contributing to municipal administration, civic infrastructure, and urban service delivery.
From September 2022 to May 2024, Shri Yadav was Private Secretary to the Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports at the Deputy Secretary Equivalent level. In this role at the Centre, he coordinated ministerial functions, policy initiatives, and stakeholder engagements in the sports and youth development sectors.
His earlier assignments include serving as Deputy Commissioner, Faridabad (August 2021 – August 2022), where he managed land revenue, district administration, and disaster management functions. As Chief Vigilance Officer in the Town & Country Planning & Urban Estate Department (June 2020 – August 2021), he strengthened oversight and transparency mechanisms. He also served as Administrator in the Urban Development and Town & Country Planning Department, Government of Haryana, Gurgaon (December 2019 – August 2021), focusing on urban planning and development regulation.
In the taxation and excise domain, Shri Yadav held multiple positions including Additional Commissioner (GST) in Haryana (August 2019 – December 2019) and Commissioner in the Excise & Taxation Department under the Chandigarh Administration (2018). These assignments provided him exposure to revenue mobilization and fiscal administration.
His tenure as Managing Director of Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation Limited (May 2018 – March 2019) combined tourism promotion with corporate governance. He also served as Municipal Commissioner of Chandigarh (October 2017 – May 2018), where he supervised urban civic administration and infrastructure management. Earlier, he held roles such as Special Secretary (Home & Vigilance), Director (Higher Education), and Commissioner of Excise in the Chandigarh Administration.
Shri Yadav began his field career in the AGMUT cadre with postings in Mizoram, serving as Assistant Commissioner in Aizawl (2012–2013) and Deputy Commissioner of Kolasib (2013–2015). These early assignments strengthened his grounding in grassroots administration and district governance.
Across his career, Shri Jitender Yadav has demonstrated administrative versatility—transitioning from district administration in the Northeast to urban governance, taxation, vigilance, and now large-scale public transport management in Delhi. His journey reflects the evolving responsibilities within the Indian Bureaucracy, where technical expertise and leadership converge to address complex urban and developmental challenges.
With significant experience at both state and central levels, he continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening urban infrastructure and public service delivery.
