Government has cleared eight hydro-electric projects in Indus basin, out of which seven projects are in UT of Ladakh and one in UT of J&K as detailed below

The aforesaid seven projects in Ladakh (Sl No 1 – 7) are hydroelectric projects with no irrigation benefits. Ratan Nag project (Sl No 8) has provision of irrigation to benefit areas in Kishtwar District of UT of J&K.

          The Central Electricity Authority has informed that there are thirty-seven major hydroelectric projects under construction in the entire country, as per the list enclosed.

This Information was given by the Minister of State for Jal Shakti, ShriBishweswarTuduin a written  reply in RajyaSabha today.
