Shri Jahangeer Alam Ansari, an accomplished finance professional with a distinguished career spanning over 27 years at Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), has been selected as Director (Finance) of Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL). Presently serving as the Chief General Manager (Finance) at IOCL, Shri Ansari brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise in the financial domain, honed through decades of dedicated service, strategic leadership, and hands-on project management in one of India’s leading public sector enterprises.
A Chartered Accountant by qualification from the prestigious Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and an alumnus of Aligarh Muslim University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Financial Management Services, Shri Ansari has consistently demonstrated exceptional analytical acumen, sound financial judgment, and an unwavering commitment to organizational goals. His deep understanding of financial systems and processes, coupled with strong leadership qualities, has made him a valuable asset to Indian Oil and now a promising addition to Goa Shipyard’s leadership team.
During his tenure at IOCL, Shri Ansari has managed diverse portfolios with excellence, including overseas project finance. One of his notable assignments was leading the financial management of an E&P (Exploration & Production) project in Venezuela. His responsibilities included the selection of a financial advisor, preparation of financial models, evaluation and finalization of project development contracts, and the creation of a comprehensive risk mitigation plan. He was also instrumental in setting up and reviewing Offshore Trust Accounts and leading negotiations on complex contractual terms to ensure optimal project financing structures.
In his domestic assignments, Shri Ansari has overseen critical financial functions such as the review and consolidation of financial statements, monitoring finance operations at various units, and providing financial concurrence for major investment decisions. His proactive approach has significantly contributed to strengthening internal financial controls and enhancing overall fiscal discipline.
His expertise also extends to treasury management, vendor payment systems, receivables management, and banking operations, reflecting a holistic command over the financial management spectrum. As the head of the Pricing Department in one of IOCL’s Regional Offices, he was responsible for the computation and revision of petroleum product pricing, ensuring accuracy and timely implementation within the SAP environment.
Additionally, Shri Ansari has played a key role in taxation matters, handling GST/VAT assessments, drafting appeal petitions, and effectively representing the organization before appellate authorities. His meticulous approach and deep understanding of regulatory frameworks have helped in safeguarding the organization’s interests and ensuring compliance.
