Union Minister for Coal, Mines, and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Pralhad Joshi, hosted Canadian delegation led by H.E. Ranj Pillai, Premier of Yukon, Canada. The meeting, part of the Canadian delegation’s visit to India from September 17th to 20th, 2023, focused on strengthening cooperation in the mining sector, particularly in the mining of critical minerals. Both nations expressed their commitment to enhancing the supply chain of critical minerals between India and Canada.

Yukon, Canada’s westernmost territory, is known for its abundant mineral resources, including lead, zinc, silver, gold, asbestos, iron, and copper. H.E. Ranj Pillai provided insights into Yukon’s mining and mineral potential, highlighting opportunities for Yukon resources to support Indian industries. Shri Pralhad Joshi informed the delegation about the establishment of ‘KABIL,’ an entity under the Ministry of Mines designed to source critical and strategic minerals. Officials from both sides will continue discussions to further cooperation in the field of mineral resources.

H.E. Ranj Pillai extended an invitation to an Indian delegation to visit Yukon, offering full support for exploring investment opportunities and mineral acquisition. This meeting marks a significant step toward deepening cooperation between India and Canada in the mining sector.
